Villa Savoye, designed by the renowned architect Le Corbusier and built between 1928 and 1931 in Poissy, France, is a masterpiece of the International Style of architecture. This modernist villa exemplifies Le Corbusier's Five Points of Architecture: pilotis (supporting columns), a functional roof terrace, an open floor plan, long horizontal windows, and a freely-designed façade. Villa Savoye is a geometrically simple structure, primarily constructed of reinforced concrete, which allows for a light, airy, and uncluttered interior space. Its iconic design includes a ramp to the rooftop garden. Villa Savoye is not only a pivotal work in Le Corbusier's career but also a seminal example of 20th-century architecture that significantly influenced future architectural designs and theories. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it continues to be celebrated for its innovative approach to space and form.
